Laguna Sofia

The Laguna Sofia is halfway between Puerto Natales and the Torres del Paine National Park.

The Mamut with the climbing wall in the background.

It is a large school of sport climbing and bouldering on the left margin of the lagoon.
Easily recognizable as it is practically the only wall of rock observed.

Location

Once taken the detour to the lagoon, there are several free camping areas during the road. A 4x4 vehicle is not necessary.
During the week we were in the area between Puerto Natales and the lagoon, we could observe that there was always better wetter in the lagoon than in any other place around. In addition, the wall is sheltered from the winds that hit Patagonia, which makes it a great place to enjoy climbing.

Miriam

The routes oscillate from the IV grade until approximately 6c. There aren´t bookguides of this area, but there is always someone on the wall who can guide you.
That's what we did.

Warming up..

We recommend 100% this area, because the rock is good and the tranquility and peace that surrounds it are very good for your enjoyment. With grill area on the shore of the lake too. 😁
